Winter Road Trip // Chasing Solitude

Chasing Solitude through Stunning winter landscape in Dolomites …..

I’ve been on the road for three weeks now….
I left Denmark without fixed plans, carrying only a loose idea of beginning this journey somewhere in the Alps. What followed was unplanned and perfect.

I spent a few days in Austria, then continued south into the Dolomites, where I felt like I’d stepped into a fairytale. I honestly can’t remember the last time I witnessed such a magical winter landscape. Snow-covered peaks, silence, and light that made everything feel unreal. Even after three weeks on the road, I still can’t quite believe I arrived here at just the right moment to experience this place wrapped in snow.

The winter slowed me down. Days began to unfold one at a time, without rush or expectations. I found myself simply embracing the landscape, the stillness, and the quiet rhythm of being alone on the road…..

Well, almost alone. Valder, my dog, has been right beside me the whole way

All these photos come from Sexten in the Dolomites, where I’ve been living slowly these past weeks. A place that quietly stole my heart….

This journey has been mostly solitary. Being alone on the road isn’t something I’m escaping from, but something I’ve chosen. I’ve chosen to travel alone. I’m a fan of solitude. Out here, without noise or expectations, time stretches differently.

Hi, I’m Cathrine Korsgaard Yde.

I’m a professional sports and action photographer who loves movement and capturing dynamic moments. I also value quiet time to recharge and let my mind wander in nature.

I often explore nature from our van during the off-season, away from the crowds and noise. That balance between action and stillness is where I find my inspiration.
